The Costa Brava
Travel south to the Costa Brava and one of the most charming villages on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, Cadaques. Surrounded by mountains and bays, this beautiful village inspired many painters, most famously Salvador Dali, who lived not far away, in Port Lligat. The Church of Cadaques rises above the white houses reminiscent of a small Greek villages.
Spend the afternoon in the seaside resort of Rosas, brimming with excitement during the summer. The old town is full of surprises and tapas restaurants, nestled in among its narrow alleys. Your taste buds will appreciate a very pleasant memory!
On the way back inland, an unmissable stop is the town of Figueras, renowned for its incredible Theatre-Museum, built here, in the town of his birth, by Dali in 1960. Take the opportunity to visit the Toy Museum too, and stroll through the many shops of the town centre.
Ten kilometres before arriving back in Le Boulou stop at Le Perthus to discover the Fort de Bellegarde (closed for the moment), a military fortress built by Vauban in the seventeenth century, situated on the heights of the village. Along the main street you'll find an uninterrupted line of jewellers, fashion boutiques and food shops with very attractive prices.
Only a few kilometres from the French border, enjoy a change of scenery and discover the southern part of Catalonia
